{haul out the holly}

edited to add: Congrats, Tracey! LOL Since you're the only one that signed up, you're definitely the winner of the papers! I hope you enjoy them :)

Haul out the holly;
Put up the tree before my spirit falls again.
Fill up the stocking,
I may be rushing things, but deck the halls again now.
For we need a little Christmas
Right this very minute,
Candles in the window,
Carols at the spinet.
Yes, we need a little Christmas
Right this very minute.
It hasn't snowed a single flurry,
But Santa, dear, we're in a hurry;
So climb down the chimney;
Put up the brightest string of lights I've ever seen.
Slice up the fruitcake;
It's time we hung some tinsel on that evergreen bough.
For I've grown a little leaner,
Grown a little colder,
Grown a little sadder,
Grown a little older,
And I need a little angel
Sitting on my shoulder,
Need a little Christmas now.
Haul out the holly;
Well, once I taught you all to live each living day.
Fill up the stocking,
Young Patrick:
But Auntie Man, it's one week from Thanksgiving Day now.
But we need a little Christmas
Right this very minute,
Candles in the window,
Carols at the spinet.
Yes, we need a little Christmas
Right this very minute.
It hasn't snowed a single flurry,
But Santa, dear, we're in a hurry;
So climb down the chimney;
Put up the brightest string of lights I've ever seen.
Slice up the fruitcake;
It's time we hung some tinsel on that evergreen bough.
For we need a little music,
Need a little laughter,
Need a little singing
Ringing through the rafter,
And we need a little snappy
"Happy ever after,"
Need a little Christmas now.
Need a little Christmas now.

It's my favorite song right now :) Every time I hear it, it makes me smile and puts a little spring in my step. What's your favorite Christmas or holiday song? If you leave a comment letting me know, I'll put your name in a drawing for a BUNCH of papers that I'd like to gift to someone. They aren't old papers, just ones that I don't think I'll use or already have duplicates of. Lots of bolder prints since I'm not doing much bold, that sort of thing.... So, please be sure to leave a comment by Monday, December 22nd if you'd like a chance for them.

And here are a couple of recent publications for me - I've been very blessed this year! Thanks for sharing it all with me :) (I'll have a little more to share in January and February of next year, too!)

oh, how I love this girl :)

This is one of the pictures from what were supposed to be nice Christmas-card photos :) You know, one of these days we might stop trying for that "perfect" shot and just let them be...

Used the VERY versatile sketch from Miss Sandie who is guest at PencilLines this week (thank you, Sandie, for the inspiration!) and this week's Color Challenge at SplitCoast Stampers (Taken with Teal, Riding Hood Red, Baja Breeze and Whisper White). Both fantastic inspiration for this busy, wonderfully crazy and blessed time!

My Sketch World!

Hey, look who's over at My Sketch World this month! :)

Jen Martakis and I had the pleasure of playing with Lucy's December sketch since she gave her DT the month off for the holidays! Here's the great sketch:

And here's my layout paying homage to funky hair and black eyeliner:

That's the Earthy Summer Power Palette Addition from Creative Memories, embellished with some Basic Grey rub-ons, Prima lollipop flower fun, Love Elsie ribbon, and some ancient Junkitz bling :)

some leaves from my family tree

When we went to North Carolina this summer, we returned with a huge envelope jammed full of old family photos from my mum's side of the family tree. It was so much fun to go through the photos and try to identify our relatives. You can imagine that I was pretty excited when I found out shortly after that Creative Memories had created a vintage themed collection!! I had a great time playing with these new Jewel Heritage Power Palette Kits in 12x12 and 8x8. Both of the kits are totally packed and really easy to design with. I love the muted colors and prints, and isn't it nice to see more than black, brown and ivory for heritage pages?! (To see other creations from the Design Team using the new collection, click here to go to the Project Center.)

I forgot to mention, too, that Sew Somerset magazine requested a page that uses some of this Heritage collection!! It has lots of machine-stitching and hand-sewing, ribbons and buttons, ooh and lots of Prima bling! I can't wait to show that layout (knock on wood I'll be showing it in the magazine! LOL).

Thanks for stopping by and visiting :)

my lumpiest, bumpiest layout ever

Sometimes, I just have to get the lumpy bumpy layouts out of my system :) Then I can return to making things that fit nicely in page protectors. This one looks pretty awesome hanging in the eating area of the kitchen (think so, anyway)....

Used the Primary Winter Power Palette Addition by Creative Memories as the color inspiration for the page and embellishments. The blues are just too pretty, and they match Ellie's eyes perfectly :)

I used the Stampin' Up! Library Clip to attach that one more photo that was so important to me. And a little bling (okay, a lot of bling!) never hurt anything....

I'm really trying to get back to adding more journaling to my pages, so this was the most clever way I could go on this page. The hinges from the Grungeboard packs are so very cool - so easy to use and add great depth, don't ya think?

The two smaller photos across the bottom of the page are in Memorabilia Pockets (by Creative Memories) which are like little tiny page protectors to me, so I embellished 'em and put them on hinges to show even more cuteness of Ellie underneath 'em. This is what it looks like when you flip them up.

Did I mention that I had a lot of fun with this layout?! Stitches and staples and glitter and bling and stickers and ribbons and ric rac and hinges and paint and torn edges and felt and flowers.....

Thankful Jar

I decorated a Treasures Journal Jar for the Creative Memories Project Center and filled it with tags that say what each family member is thankful for. The photos that I used for each tag are reduced in saturation to give it the same coloration as the paper. For directions to decorate the jar and lots of other cute Thanksgiving ideas, please see the Project Center here. Thank you for looking! I'm thankful for all of you, too :)

ad challenge!

Our Creative Memories Design Team leader, Addie, gives us weekend challenges, and I had a great time with this one! Our challenge was to use a non-scrappy ad as inspiration, along with 75% (I think it was?) Creative Memories product on our layout. I immediately thought of the Catimini catalog because it never fails to inspire me with its beautiful clothes, photography, colors, details...

So, here is my inspiration from the Catimini catalog:
and here is my layout using the Romance Power Palette and Pastel Autumn Additions, plus some Heidi Swapp and Maya Road, with American Craft letters. I even used a swirl that I printed out from my Creative Memories Digital Overlays :)

Would you like to play along with our challenge, too? I'll send you a RAK if you do :)

This is My Father's World...

Okay, maybe I'm a little nutty over digi-scrapping right now! I've discovered Quick Pages and Freebies. Oh, my!! I am still just shocked that these awesome designers share their hard work so generously. But I'm very appreciative :)

This is a quick page by Jess Gordon - a freebie at! She made a gorgeous collection called Color Theory - Olive for Christina Renee Designs. Really beautiful. This entire page is designed by Jess - all I did was insert the photo and added part of the hymn that inspired her collection. So easy and so very fabulous!

my second digi page ever!

This is only the second digi-page I've ever made, but I think it came out alright. There is a new Digi Scrapping Challenge here at SplitCoastStamper's:
The challenge is to use a photo as the background, and to use an element of pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

I used Creative Memories' StoryBook Creator Plus software with:
Digital Embellishments–Sewing Room–Romance and Romance Digital Power™ Palette by Creative Memories, and the frames are from Whirlwind Overlay and Brush by Karen Russell.

little fall celebration and a giveaway!

I'm very excited about the Fall weather and feel like celebrating! So, please join me in celebrating this layout being in the September Scrapbook Trends :) (Seems like a good enough reason, eh?)
I usually do a Fall Cleaning instead of a Spring Cleaning - I guess it takes me that long to get around to it. So, I hit my scrap area today and filled this pizza box with a bunch of stuff that I'm just not being a good home to....If you see anything that could be of fun use to you, please leave a comment here, and you'll go into a drawing for everything pictured and whatever else I might squeeze in there :) I'll draw a winner on Monday morning (the 13th).

And, if any of you have a sweet card hanging around, it would really lift my mum's spirits if you could send it to her - please just email me for the address.

Halloween is almost here!

The first of each month, Creative Memories updates the website with a new theme and new products. Since Fall is probably my favorite time of the year, I'm so excited about the website today. Tons of browns and leaves and lots of neat things to look at!

The Halloween gallery is up, too, in the Project Center. Really fun ideas - I especially love Chrissy Wood's tags - you really should see them :)

ready to start making some Christmas cards?

The Creative Memories Project Center has a bunch of holiday cards up! The holiday papers and doo-dads are very fun and easy to work with. I think you could find some inspiration there!
