guest design spot and a tutorial!

I have the pleasure of being this week's Guest Designer over at Sketches! {by tamara} :)
There are so many awesome sketches there, and the designers are amazing. Please check it out and say hello when you have a moment! I had a great time choosing which sketch and going a little bit over-the-top with it.

Here is the sketch that I worked with (#50) and my layout:

And here are a few close-ups of some fun flowery things:

Here is a simple little tutorial on how to easily glitter your brads - this is especially fun for the snowflake shaped brads:

Assemble your supplies on a paper towel or scrap paper. I'm using Crystal Effects by Stampin' Up! as the adherent - you can easily use any thick liquid adhesive that you're used to. I like the Crystal Effects because it really holds the chunky glitter (also from Stampin' Up!) that I love. (And it lasts a long time! I've been working through this bottle since 2005. It's almost time for a new one!)

Apply the Crystal Effects (or other adhesive) to only the top of the brad.

When applying the liquid to the top of the brad, try not to glop it on too much because you will lose the detail of the shape once the glitter hits it ;)

I dunk the brad right into the glitter container. Anyone who knows me well knows that I hate glittery messes with a passion! This is the neatest way to keep the glitter under control. (Just be very sure that your adhesive is thick so that it doesn't drip off into the container.)

And, ta-DA! You have a gorgeous, sparkling brad!

These dry very nicely in the sunshine. Check to make sure they've set before you start working with them, though, or else you'll need to start all over ;)

And here are my sparkly snowflakes on my layout:

Thank you for joining me today!! I hope you have a fantastic weekend :)
